Review of engine and vehicle noise and vibration phenomena

Antonio Acri

Due to stringent noise regulations and increasing customer demands, engine and vehicle development processes nowadays focus more and more on vibration and acoustic issues. To reduce noise pollution and improve acoustic quality, exact knowledge of noise and vibration generation mechanisms is required. This paper summarizes the current state of the art in noise and vibration problems in automotive industry describing the most relevant noise and vibration phenomena.
